143rd Medical Company Annual Dining Out

I recently went to a Dining Out with my brother. It was a really neat experience and I'm really glad that I was able to go with him. The whole evening was just in another world with toasts, protocols, and military traditions but I was really glad that I was able to be a part of Jarren's world for a few hours! It was a great time to go to kick of the 4th of July!

So, this picture makes it look like I was bored out of my mind but I wasn't. Dave just took a random picture of me...I was starving though...

The coolest part was the table set for of the Fallen Soldier. It was set up right in front and just hit the spot of patriotism in me. I thought it was really neat!

Symbolism For Fallen Comrades

This TABLE set for one is small, symbolizing the frailty of one prisoner alone, against his oppressors.

The TABLECLOTH is white, symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country's call to arms.

The SINGE ROSE displayed in a vase reminds us of the families and loved ones of our comrades-in-arms who keep the faith awaiting their return.

The RED RIBBON tied so prominently on the vase is reminiscent of the red ribbon worn upon the lapel and breast of thousands who bear witness to their unyielding determination to demand proper accounting of our missing.

A SLICE OF LEMON is on the bread plate symbolic of the family's tears as they wait.

The GLASS is inverted they cannot toast with us this night.

Remember all of you who served with them and called them comrades, who depended upon their might and aid and relied upon them, for surely, THEY have not forsake YOU.
Happy 4th of July!

Thats a really pretty dress on you. the starving picture is my favorite. I love stuff like that, sometimes in "hard times" opportunities to be patriotic don't present themselves very often.
