Valentine's Day Dinner
For Valentines Day we didn't go out on a date this year, but it ended up being my favorite Valentines Day yet. I love holidays and I love to go all out on holidays. I try to come up with some kind of tradition for each holiday so the kids have something to look forward to...and for me to look forward to (to be honest).
The night before, Dave and I stayed up making rice krispie hearts dipped in chocolate for our Sunday School class and our friends. We had a lot of fun making them together!

On Valentine's Day I decided to have a family candle lit dinner. It was a lot of fun. I decided to try a new recipe...which was a bit risky...but it turned out GREAT. I found a new recipe for manicotti that had a white cream sauce and a marinara sauce on it. It took FOREVER to make so we didn't eat until around 8 that night but it was so worth it! It was SO good! We also had smoothies to go with it. We will definitely be making this a family tradition!
AND, the best part was the heart shaped red velvet cake. It was so, so, so good. Dave isn't a fan of cakes and even he loved it!

Dave gave Kaylee a rose. She loved it! She wanted to carry it around with her everywhere. We had to explain to her that she couldn't play with it and she had to keep it in water. I've always thought it was a very sweet thing for dads to give their daughters a rose on Valentine's Day....so, Dave started the tradition!

The kids are always drinking out of our water bottles...which is kinda gross when we get little floaties in them! We decided to get them their own little water bottles. We filled them with Smarties and gave them a heart shaped sucker and some bubbles. So far, so good. Kaylee carries hers with her all the time....and Cole did until he lost it somewhere....

Dave and I went small this year due to the fact we don't have any income but we both loved our gifts. I gave Dave a pretty awesome water bottle :-) to take to school with him...filled with candy that went along with a little poem, and he gave me a tanning pass. I LOVE tanning and can't wait to go!
It was a pretty great day and a really good reminder that we don't have to have money to have a great time! We were able to show each other that we loved one another and that is all that counts!
