Moving Day

We packed up the truck on July 5th.  It was such a hard, emotional day in a lot of ways.  It was so hard to even think about leaving such good friends, neighbors, and our house.  On top of that was all the packing, cleaning, painting, etc.  It was just a hard day.

We were scheduled to pick up the truck at 7:00 am and people to help us pack the truck at 8:00 am.  Dave went down to Springfield with our good friend, Mark, to pick up the truck.  It was not ready because no one was there on the 4th of July to get the truck ready for pick up.  This was frustrating at first because we had people scheduled to be at the house at 8 but it ended up really working in our favor.  Because they were late getting our truck to us, they knocked off $500, gave us all the furniture padding we wanted, gave Dave insurance on the truck, and gave us some big nice boxes!  It was great!

Our friend Mark saved us!  He was a pro at packing/loading that truck!  We were worried we were going to need to rent a U-haul to put on the back of the truck.  Mark packed it all in there though!  He was covered in sweat from head to toe having to be inside the truck for 2 hours.  He was GREAT!  Thanks so much, Mark!!!

As luck would have it, we got a call after the house was packed that we lost the house in Elko that we were suppose to lease.  They had sold it out from under us without letting us know that any of that was going on.  We now had a loaded truck and no where to go!  We really didn't have a choice after that point.  Dave had to be to work the following Monday and the truck was already rented and loaded.  The only thing we could do was finish what we had started....

After packing the truck, the fun stuff began..........NOT!  It was the worst part!  All the odds and ends that didn't end up in a box and the stuff you have to leave out to get through the night and to clean the house.  We had so much left to do!

Dave worked on the odds and ends while I worked on the cleaning and touch up.  Thanks to some other great friends, the kids had somewhere to go play during the loading of the truck and getting everything else done.

Around 6:00 that night, we realized we were not going to get everything done in time to leave the next morning.  We were suppose to stay at the Wilkins that night but there was no way we were going to make it. :-(  I finally called Mark and Amanda to come help us clean.  I felt so bad after they had just spent all morning with us but we just needed the help.  They were so great to come right over and get to work.  Their kindness didn't stop there!  Amanda left and bought pizza for everyone.  Seriously!  How great are these people?  Oh, and they canceled their fishing trip they had planned for the day to help us out.  WOW!  We found out real quick which of our friends were the kind of friends that are just so great and will do anything and everything at a drop of a hat.  Those that will be dear friends forever! We were so so grateful for them!

They helped us get a ton done.  Amanda even called in some more help.  I can't remember what time they all left but I was up until 3:30 and Dave was up until 4:30.  We woke up at 5:30 to hit the road.  It was rough!

It was so hard leaving our house.  I just kept walking around the house looking at every room thinking of all our memories in our first house.  I just cried and cried.  It just didn't seem real that that part of our lives was over.  It was so hard to say goodbye and to walk out of our house, close the door, and drive away.  I cried the whole day.

Goodbye Bolivar, Missouri!
