The challenge to listening to conference is KIDS! It is hard enough to make it through a Sacrament meeting, let alone 8 hrs of sitting listening to conference at HOME. I tried my best to have TONS of activities for the kids to do to keep them busy.
I saw this on Pinterest....I'll admit it. Conference SOCKS! The kids thought it was great!
Treats for the 1st Presidency and the 12 apostles
We even did crafts. I only took a picture of this one because my paper cup spiders didn't really turn out :-/.... at least it kept them busy for 10 minutes :-)
We had a HUGE announcement announced by President Monson! The missionary ages changed! Whoa! Boys can now go when they turn 18 after the have graduated from High School, and girls can go when they turn 19!
I had heard rumor about the missionary age changing for boys but the age for girls BLEW my mind!
I then wondered what I would have done. Would I have chosen to go on a mission at age 19? I was kinda relieved that I didn't have to make that decision.... awful I know, but that is truly how I felt.
I do think it is great though! There are going to be so many more missionaries! It will be interesting to see how things develop....it will be fun to watch! Maybe the increase in missionaries is due to Mitt Romney running for PRESIDENT! Just maybe we are going to need more missionaries out there because now we have a Mormon President and people are going to look into what this Mormon thing is all about....just a thought! And, an exciting one at that!
I love that we have modern revelation and the exciting future the Church has. It is very comforting to know that no matter how bad the country gets, life gets, etc, the Church is never going to fail! It will always be moving forward!
