Our temple trip to St. Louis was quite the trip that ended up costing us a lot of $$$$! Our first problem happened in Lebanon. I wanted to stop at a hot spot so that I could buy a blanket from JJ Cole because they were having an online warehouse sale. Well, when I was about done making my purchase, the car died. It was the weirdest thing because the car was running. We found someone to jump us and we were on our way again.
A little bit later, Cole threw up. We've decided that he gets car sick because this was not the first time. We have since learned to give him Dramamine before we start our trips.
We finally made it to St. Louis a little late for the Cardinals game but we still were able to see plenty of baseball. It was fun to be in a pro baseball stadium with the kids. Of course, their favorite was the fireworks after a home run.
When we got back to the car, it did not start. So, we asked someone to jump us and while we were in reverse to back out of our parking spot, the car died again. Awesome! Luckily our friends were in town for Temple Day and were able to come help us out. They jumped us and this time we were able to get out of our parking spot...but we didn't make it far. We had decided we needed to replace the battery or the alternator. We were hoping for just the battery so we headed to a Ford place to see if they could help us out. On the way, in the middle of traffic, right before construction started, the car died. No bueno! Now we were stuck in the middle of traffic in a congested area. We knew we had to push the car out of the way but the car would not go into neutral for some reason. After a few tries we were able to put the car in neutral and get the car out of the road. Not very fun! Dave ended up going with Wicky's to find a battery while I waited in the car.
They were able to find a battery....not a cheap one you could find at a Walmart unfortunately but a battery none the less. We thought we were on our way!
By the time we were done dealing with the car, we were starving. The whole time we had planned on going out to Fitz's but because of the $$$ spent on the car we weren't sure we should...but we did anyway. :-) It has been a tough day so we deserved it right! HA...well, we did have a good time at Fitz's but when we got back in the car....you guessed it....it didn't start! So, once again we started looking for someone to jump us and once again, after we were jumped and in reverse, the car died again. We found someone else to jump us and as long as Dave kept one foot on the gas at all times...including times we had to stop, the car kept going. We finally made it to the hotel frustrated but in one piece.
The poor kids had been stuck in the car all day while we dealt with the car so they were so happy and excited to get out and play in the pool!
They had a great time staying at the Hotel! They ate the whole experience up!
The next morning it was time to go to the temple....but first, a little prayer that the car would start! AND, it did! In fact, we didn't have any problems that entire day!
After the temple, we went to the zoo with the Goodman's.
Kaylee holding her nose because of the smell in the penguin aquarium.
We did make it home without any problems that day. BUT, the next day when we got up to go into town....the car did NOT start! It took a good half hour to get the car started and luckily we made it into town where we had to replace the alternator $$$$. While it was a costly trip, I know we were blessed for going that day because our car did work that entire day and got us home safe and sound.
