Fat Lip

On Friday afternoons, I run a Tiny Tots gym time at the gym.  It is a lot of fun for the kids.  It is for 18mo up to Pre-K.  We set up the bouncy house, get out the scooters and skates, have tumbling fun, lots of balls, frisbees, etc.  My kids LOVE it.  Well, we were setting up, the kids and I, and Kaylee was playing on a scooter with a jump rope.  The jump rope wrapped around one of the wheels, which caused the scooter to come to a halt and Kaylee went flying off.  She hit face first and cut her lip and cut it pretty darn good she did!  I would have taken her in to get stitches but there was a EMT there who said it would be more traumatizing for her to go in and get stitches than to let it heal on it's own.  She said mouths heal really fast and recommended not taking her in.  So we put a bag of frozen corn on it and she sat on the side next to me for the rest of gym time. 

This same EMT left for a few minutes.  When she came back she had a new bottle of children's Tylenol for Kaylee.  She had left, packed up her kids (which is a BIG deal), went to Dollar General, and bought the Tylenol for Kaylee.  I couldn't believe it.  I wouldn't have even though of doing something like that for one of my friends, let alone a stranger.  I didn't even know how to thank her enough for her thoughtfulness and kindness!  I just couldn't believe she had just done that for us!  It was a little thing she did for us that will have a lasting impression on me to think more about others!  Thank you so much EMT lady!  (I don't even know her name :-( )

Kaylee's swelling never went down that day and when she woke up, it was even bigger! (The pictures are actually from the morning after she did it) Dave looked at it and played with it as much as Kaylee would allow and found a bunch of puss in it.  He was able to drain it, which helped a lot, and then put more ice on it.  It stayed pretty swollen for the next 2 days and then gradually went down after that.  She was pretty worried her face was going to stay like that.  I assured her she would be back to her beautiful self soon!
