Temporary Hearing Loss
Cole had a hearing test today. I went in pretty sure everything was fine because Cole's school had said they had done a hearing screening with him and said he was fine. So, I was taken by surprise with the Dr told me that Cole had temporary hearing loss in both ears.
The first test they did on Cole was to test the vibration of his ear drum (I'm dumbing this down for me). I asked the Dr. what he just tested, still thinking it was nothing, and he told me about the test and then said, "Cole can't hear". WAIT! WHAT?! I was kinds in shock but then a lot of things started to make sense.... like, I always feel like I have to yell at him. I always wondered if he was ignoring me or he couldn't hear me. Well, now I know the answer! He also says, "What, What, What, What" a million times before he finally gets it. Now I know it was because he wasn't hearing it.
The Dr then ran 2 more tests on him and said it was now up to the ENT to decide what to do. He is thinking he will need tubes and have his tonsils and adenoids out....which we've been trying to get out because of his drooling and the constant drainage out of his nose. We go back to the ENT on the 27th.
Hopefully we can get the poor little guy feeling better. I think he has always had stuff going on with his nose, throat, and ears but he just never complains about it. I'm excited to see the change in him, even though he doesn't even think there is anything wrong. I feel bad that he has gone 3 1/2 years feeling like this and he doesn't know any different. I just wish we could get in sooner!!

Hopefully he gets better soon! We know all about the hearing stuff, it isn't any fun, but I always tell myself there is a lot of worse stuff he could have. Ollie has to have another ABR (auditory brain response) test on the 28th. Hope you guys are doing good :)
I hope they can get him fixed up soon! That is so sad.
