Miracle Boy

We have had another miracle happen in the Poulsen family. My brother Nathan has had 2 heart transplants and he is only 15. The first one was when he was only 10 weeks old. Elder Neil A Maxwell gave him a blessing and that night my mom had the call they had found a heart. The 2nd transplant happened when Nathan was 7. He had coronary artery disease (common in heart transplanted hearts)-another miracle to get a 2nd heart and it was just in the neck of time. He wasn't going to make it much longer. All through the years there have been other problems and other miracles. The latest was this past week. Nathan goes go Primary Children's Hospital regularly for heart biopsies. This last one had bad news with it. They found that they needed to put 2 stints in 2 different arteries and he had coronary artery disease in one. (The coronary artery disease that heart transplanted hearts get is different from the commonly known coronary artery disease) He was also in rejection. Bad news! They said he would be lucky to have this heart for 3 more years. Since the biopsy, he has had to go to Primarys every other week for tests. This last one they found that instead of needing stints, they think his heart is spasming in weird places. An MRI is scheduled to tell them more but this was GREAT news! Although poor Nathan has gone through so much, we are very grateful for all the miracles that have taken place in his life!

Wow. I had no idea. How hard that must be for him and for your family. But that is good news and hopefully it just keeps getting better! You guys are amazing.

Wow, your brother must be a real trooper to go through all of those tests and appointments. We'll keep him and your family in our prayers.
