For my dad's Christmas present we decided to send him to the Neil Diamond concert. He LOVES Neil Diamond. I was able to go with him because I am a huge fan as well. All growing up I listened to Neil Diamond while I went to work with my dad so it was really neat to share that with him. It was a perfect night that we will never forget!
I wish I could have captured the look on my dad's face! (and I would have if they would have allowed cameras!) It was priceless. He was grinning from ear to ear. He said he almost started crying when Neil came out...secretly I almost did too. The whole night was just incredible!
We worried that Neil Diamond would play more of his recent stuff and not the oldie goldie songs that we love. He sang a few from his new CD, which were really good, but the rest were oldie goldie! It was AWESOME! We were so excited every time he started a new song. I think we could have stayed in that moment forever! It was so funny to watch all the older ladies up and dancing...I seriously was one of the youngest ones there. It was GREAT!
As we were leaving my dad said, "We are paying more money next time"! We all thought this was going to be a once in a lifetime thing....haha...nope...it is just the beginning...

Okay, so I told Wade about this post and he just smiled! He is a Neil Diamond fan as well. Now, he doesn't just come out and say it sometimes, but he knows every word to every song he has ever sung! When he was little (living in CA) his school was practicing to sing "We're coming to America" for a school assembly. Well, Wade woke up sick. He tried to hide if from his mom, but nope, he had to stay home. He was devistated! He had been practicing at home, at school, you name it! Anyways...that is so fun that you got to go to the concert with your dad! Was it just the two of you? What a fun time to spend together!
oh my.... I definitely grew up with good old neil as well...
My dad actually got tickets for my mom to go to his concert in NC! I was so jealous! They had such a great time too.
My mom was talking about how she bought his new cd because she wanted to be able to sing along to the new stuff... but like you said, there were plenty of the classics sung :)
