On the night of December 2 we noticed Kaylee smiling kinda funny. We thought it was because it was late and she was tired. The next day I was so busy packing for Branson and Utah that I didn't pay too much attention to half her face not working (great mom, eh?) As we were driving down to Branson, I decided I should call my mom about it. She told me to call Dr. Brown (our Dr. in Utah) right away. I talked to a nurse and explained what was going on. She put me on hold and when she came back she told me to get Kaylee to the ER right away. Then the water works started and I began to get a little freaked out. Our good friends, The Goodmans (who we were going to Branson with) took us straight to the hospital in Branson. We first stopped at the Urgent Care who told me to get to the ER right away....again....started freaking out. Once we were in the ER we went right in. I think we waited 2 minutes at the most for them to see Kaylee. The Dr. and nurse were quite funny...doing all they could to get Kaylee to make different facial expressions to determine if she had Bell's Palsy or if she had had a stroke....thankfully it was Bell's Palsy.
These pictures were taken after the ER. Kaylee wanted to know why she had to go to the hospital so I took some pictures to show her. She was quite funny about it and would say things like, "My face is broken", & "My face not working". After she would take her medicine she would say, "Look, my face is getting better" and then she would smile really big.
We were really lucky that her Bells' Palsy was a mild case. The only time we could really tell was when she would smile, laugh, or cry. We are also very grateful that it went away so fast. After only 2 weeks she was back to her smiley, beautiful self.

What is Bell's Palsy? Is it temporary, or ongoing?

That is so lucky that you got it worked out so fast. I have a couple of friends who have had it. How scary for you! So glad everything is okay.
Wow that's scary to have issues while you are on the road. I'm glad it worked out okay and Kaylee is doing good now. Will it come back?
That is so scary! I am glad that it wasn't a horrible case, along with everyone, I don't know what it is, but do they know what caused it? I am glad that everything is fine now!
Oh I'm so glad she is ok! What a fun, cute girl!
